BBC bosses are under fire for featuring a Legionnaires' outbreak in an episode of hospital drama Holby City while people were fighting for their lives in Edinburgh.

The show featured a man dying after he was struck down by the disease and health chiefs had to track the source of the bacteria. The BBC has received 11 complaints about the episode.

A spokesman said: "Holby City is a topical medical drama series. This week's episode was filmed three months ago and is in no way based on recent events but entirely coincidental."
