Body found in search for fisherman

Police searching for a missing fisherman have found a body on a beach.

Fraser Carrington, 32, disappeared at the weekend while night fishing from rocks on the Aberdeenshire coast at Tangle-Ha, north of St Cyrus.

Coastguard teams scoured the shoreline since he was reported missing by another angler at about 3am on Sunday, but no trace of him was found.

Police said the body of a man was found on the shore close to St Cyrus by a member of the public at around 9am today. There are no suspicious circumstances.

The body has not been formally identified but Mr Carrington's family have been informed of the development, police said.

A report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
