MURDER mystery drama Broadchurch has been named the best TV show of 2013.

The ITV crime story, set in a Dorset coastal town and starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman, beat The Great British Bake Off and Netflix drama Breaking Bad in this year's poll.

The Radio Times list sees drama dominate this year's countdown, with The Returned, Top Of The Lake, Homeland, Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders in the top 10.

French supernatural thriller The Returned is second, followed by fellow Channel 4 show, the fly-on-the-wall documentary Educating Yorkshire.

Top Of The Lake, the Jane Campion drama starring Elisabeth Moss, is fourth, with James Corden's new comedy The Wrong Mans and US show Homeland in fifth and sixth place.

Ratings hit The Great British Bake Off is seventh, with new Channel 4 comedy series Toast Of London, Breaking Bad and BBC Two gangster drama Peaky Blinders completing the top 10.

Tim Glanfield, editor of RadioTimes.com, said: "Broadchurch drew the nation into a collective hysteria every Monday night for eight weeks, as who killed Danny Latimer became the talking point up and down the country. Broadchurch is a fantastic example of British TV at its very best."
