A businessman has offered a £1,000 reward for information on a bottle attack which left a 10-year-old Rangers fan in hospital.

Kieran Duffy lost two teeth when a beer bottle was hurled into a bus taking him and his twin brother Declan to Sunday's Old Firm cup match.

Police said a local man has offered £1,000 to anyone who can help identify the football supporter responsible.

The anonymous donation came as detectives revealed that they have not received any calls about the attack, despite wide coverage in the media.

They called on the man to turn himself in before he is traced.

It is believed the glass bottle was thrown in the side door of the supporters' bus by one of a group of Celtic fans who approached the vehicle as it sat in traffic in Cathcart Road near Hampden.

Detective Inspector Thom McKean said: "A local businessman, who wishes to remain anonymous, was so appalled by what had happened that he approached police to offer a reward of £1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

"This comes following our appeal yesterday which unfortunately, despite the significant coverage both in the media and online, no calls have been received by Police Scotland offering any information about the incident.

"We are of course checking CCTV and carrying out inquiries into the attack on Kieran and would encourage anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem to them, to come forward."

Kieran spent Sunday night in hospital where he received stitches to his mouth.

He suffered a hairline fracture to his face and lost two teeth in the attack near Nutberry Court in the Mount Florida area at around 12.15pm on Sunday.

The Eastbank Primary pupil had been on his way to his first match outside Ibrox with his brother and father Robert Duffy, 39.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 11in and of heavy build. He was wearing green clothing and possibly a white beanie-style hat.

An online appeal set up by Celtic supporter Rod Lee for Kieran has so far raised almost £3,800 of a £5,000 target.

Mr McKean said: "Someone knows who did this and should be not be misguided by loyalty.

"Contact police - just imagine if this was your own child or someone you know. The same would apply to the man who threw the bottle - own up and contact police as it is only a matter of time before you are traced."
