DAVID CAMERON has warned eurosceptics that membership of the 27-nation bloc remains in the UK's national interest.

The argument for withdrawal from organisations like the EU is "short-term and narrow" and "falls apart under closer scrutiny," said the Prime Minister.

He said the national interest was best served by engaging in the world and playing a role in shaping the rules on trade, tax and regulation set by multinational bodies like the UN, G8, World Trade Organisation and EU

UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage told him to "take his Brussels blinkers off".
