Thousands of wellwishers were treated to the sight of the Royal Family walking to church for the traditional Christmas day service - but the Duchess of Cornwall was missing.
On a cold but sunny day, royal fans caught a glimpse of the Queen and her family as they made their way to the place of worship near the Queen's private home of Sandringham in Norfolk.
But Camilla was not able to attend because she has a bad back, said Clarence House.
A Clarence House spokeswoman said: "Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall will not attend the traditional family church service at Sandringham, St Mary Magdalene Church, on Christmas Day.
"The Duchess put her back out earlier in December and has been in pain and is receiving physiotherapy. The doctors have advised against any travel."
Also missing was Prince George, but he is likely to have spent the morning in the care of his nanny.
Leading the way from Sandringham to St Mary Magdalene church was the Princess Royal, flanked by the Duke of Edinburgh and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. They were followed by the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who were holding hands, and other members of the family.
As Prince Harry walked past, some of the crowds cried out his name and he smiled at the well-wishers.
Some had gathered before dawn - around 5am - to claim a good vantage point to see the Royal Family walk past.
The Queen arrived separately in a chauffeur-driven car and met her family at steps leading up to the church.
Thefamily traditionally gathers at the Queen's private Sandringham estate in Norfolk over the Christmas period to enjoy the festivities.
It is thought the Royal Family's habit of spending Christmas at the residence dates to Queen Victoria's reign. Unlike most people in the UK, they follow the German tradition of opening their presents on Christmas eve.
But after today's service the Queen and her family will sit down to a Norfolk turkey with all the trimmings.
The royal men wore overcoats against the cold and the women were equally protected against the conditions in stylish winter outfits.
Also among the royal party were princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and their father the Duke of York.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex were with their daughter Lady Louise Windsor, and Peter Phillips was joined by his wife Autumn.
