A PRO-cannabis demonstration is due to be held today in the heart of Scotland's largest city.

Organisers predict that hundreds will attend the 'Cannabis Celebration' in front of Glasgow City Chambers.

Speakers will promote the claimed health benefits of the substance, and will include retired police inspector Jim Duffy, who will call for a change in drugs legislation.

The rally, which will include live music as well as speeches, is expected to run from noon until 8pm.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "We are aware of the event and will police it accordingly."
