A CELEBRITY auctioneer who stalked a woman after she left him because of his controlling jealous behaviour has been warned he faces a possible jail sentence.

Married father of three William Paterson, 44, was dumped by special constable Jay Goodwillie, 27, after a two year relationship.

But the charity auctioneer who worked for the Gordon Ramsay Charity Ball and worked with Rangers and Manchester United's charitable events refused to accept it and bombarded the trainee solicitor with messages.

He posed as a policeman to contact a man she had met and kissed while on a night out when he discovered they were friends on Facebook.

He also messaged the man she had kissed and made threats to him unless he stayed away from Miss Goodwillie.

Paterson also messaged her saying: "Go out and get stabbed tonight" leaving her unable to go to her job as a special constable.

Yesterday, Paterson, of Causewayhead, Stirling, was found guilty at Stirling Sheriff Court of stalking.

Sheriff Wyllie Robertson said he accepted that Paterson had "had repeatedly accused her of cheating, and was possessive and jealous of her interaction with other men, however innocent, and notwithstanding the assurances she repeatedly gave him.

"His subsequent behaviour is eloquent of that control, jealously and possessiveness."

He said: "These actions could not in any circumstances be regarded as reasonable, and in suggesting that they were, he is deluded."

Sheriff Robertson deferred sentence for reports and released him on bail.

He also deferred consideration of a Crown request for a non-harassment order, requiring him to stay away from his former girlfriend for five years.
