He played on some of the greatest footballing stages with Scotland, Celtic, Hibs and Monaco.

Now the daughter of the Celtic assistant manager John Collins is hoping her name will be up in lights - in London's West End.

Hannah Collins has just tasted success treading the boards at Edinburgh's King's Theatre as part of her acting academy course.

Hannah appeared in Spring Awakening at the capital theatre last month and also gained plaudits for her performance in the lead role in the stage play of Sunshine on Leith at last year's Edinburgh International Fringe Festival.

Now the 19-year-old Scots actress, from Aberlady, East Lothian, has ambitions to emulate her own idol, James Bond star Dame Judi Dench, by appearing in a production on a West End stage.

Ms Collins said: "The feeling you get when performing on stage made me realise that this was the career I wanted to do.

"In Spring Awakening I had to find the correct emotions to play my character in dance.

"But my dream is to be in the West End, but I am also very interested in screen acting."

She currently an acting student at the MGA Academy of Performing Arts, in Edinburgh, which has produced stars of stage and screen.
