THE partner of Celtic footballer Kris Commons has pledged to help more Scottish hospitals support couples who have suffered the tragedy of stillbirth.

Lisa Commons, 28, launched a new fundraising drive in memory of her daughter, Lola Grace, who died in 2008.

The campaign aims to fund a fully-equipped family room in every maternity unit, allowing grieving couples to spend more time with their baby and create a memory box. Each room would have a Cuddle Cot, a temperature-controlled mattress designed to slow down the deterioration of the infant, giving families more time with their child. Midwives will also be trained to take photographs for grieving parents.

Lisa's first baby was stillborn on February, 1 2008, just days before she was due to be born. She said: "We didn't want to leave our room in the hospital; we didn't want to meet with anyone who may have thought we'd just had a baby. It was safer to be out of the way and have privacy which is why I know family rooms are a vital resource.

"Five years later I do wish we had got a photograph of us all together.

"It's about creating a lifetime of memories in a short space of time."

Lisa and Kris, 29, went on to have three healthy children, April, three, William, two, and Jax, five months.

But she said her first-born child would "live on" in the Lola Commons Fund.
