A SCHOOLBOY remains in hospital after suffering a serious cardiac arrest while playing football.

Braedyn Reid, nine, was taking part in a light training session at Webster's Sports Centre in Kirriemuir, Angus, on Thursday evening when he suddenly collapsed.

The youngster's heart is thought to have stopped twice during the incident before paramedics arrived and transported him to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

He has since been taken by air ambulance to Yorkhill Children's Hospital in Glasgow.

It is believed that he was placed in a medically-induced coma.

An Angus Council spokesman said staff had aided a boy who became unwell and helped provide emergency first aid, assisted by a doctor until further help arrived.
