Crop of the class

JACQUELINE Jeffrey, nine, gets a taste for fresh produce from her school's allotment to mark the launch of Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight.

Aultmore Park Primary School pupils in Easterhouse, Glasgow, are backing the two-week drive to promote Scotland's natural larder through farmers markets, cookery demonstrations and food festivals.

Alison Pears, deputy head teacher at Aultmore Park, said: "It's great to see the children so enthusiastic about growing their own food."
