Drumroll ... and a proposal

THIS is the moment a romantic drummer proposed to a dancer at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo - who said 'yes'.

William McDowell popped the question to girlfriend Monica McElwee as 9,000 spectators burst into applause on Thursday night.

Mr McDowell, 24, from Perth, met Ms McElwee, 22, when they performed at the Tattoo in Switzerland almost two years ago. The trooper, who serves in The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, said he wanted to propose at the place where it all started.

Ms McElwee said: "I was in tears and couldn't stop smiling."
