The daughter of the man suspected of killing missing schoolgirl Moira Anderson, said she believes her father was part of a paedophile ring operating in central Scotland and was just as bad as Jimmy Savile.

Speaking after work began on exhuming a grave in Old Monkland Cemetery in Coatbridge, that may contain Moira's body, Sandra Brown also said she believed her father, Alexander Gartshore, who died in 2006, may have killed other children.

"My father was every bit a paedophile as Jimmy Savile ever was and my sad conclusion is that Moira's not the only child in the central belt of Scotland who suffered this fate," she said.

Moira disappeared in 1957 when she was 11. Gartshore was named as the killer in a deathbed confession by a fellow abuser.
