MORE than 80 golfers have taken part in a special Father's Day golf competition at Trump Turnberry.

The event, in partnership with the Herald and Sunday Herald, saw teams of fathers and sons - both young and old - battle around the Ayrshire resort's Championship Kintyre course.

The teams experienced mixed weather as they made their way through the par-72 course on the rugged Ayshire coastline, enjoying impressive views over the Irish Sea to the Isle of Arran.

Participants, who paid £89 per team of two to take part, were treated to tea, coffee and bacon rolls on arrival.

They also received a bucket of balls to warm up with at the Turnberry Performance Academy before teeing off.

The winners - who have yet to be revealed - will also receive a selection of prizes.

A spokeswoman for Turnberry said the event was an "enjoyable and fun afternoon", which allowed fathers and sons to spend some quality time together on the golf course.

The Kintyre Course, which sits alongside the Ailsa course, is due to be rebuilt as part of a £250 million makeover of Turnberry courtesy of billionaire tycoon Donald Trump, who bought the resort early last year.
