Clark Bennett's daughter Keane Wallis-Bennett was killed at Liberton High, Edinburgh, on Tuesday. The tragedy sparked urgent checks at schools in the city and inspectors have cordoned off several free-standing walls at other premises. Other councils are also carrying out "precautionary" inspections of their buildings.
Mr Bennett, a chef, looked at the array of bright flowers, cuddly toys, cards and letters that were placed under the entrance sign to the school by family, pupils and friends.
In a statement released earlier by police, Keane's family said she was their "princess who dreamed of being Prime Minister".
