FIREMEN have voted to stage three days of industrial action over changes to their pensions, but have stopped short of calling a general strike.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has been informed of the decision by the Fire Brigades Union in Scotland.

Fire crews will refuse to work overtime on December 24 and between December 27 and 29, with control room personnel joining them for the first day of action.

Members of the public have been told to continue to call 999 if there is an emergency as SFRS will continue to respond to all emergency calls as normal. Chief Officer Alasdair Hay said: "It relates to an on-going dispute between the FBU and the UK Government."
