A BUCKINGHAM Palace footman who played a vital role announcing the birth of Prince George has said he would love to return to his old job after being forced to return home to India.

Badar Azam went from a Calcutta slum to Buckingham Palace after studying for a hospitality management degree at Napier University in Edinburgh.

The 24-year-old, who helped put up the official statement outside the Queen's main residence announcing the birth last week, has returned home after his visa expired. He said the role in heralding Prince George's arrival was "a special moment."
