Elegant Marion Finlayson has been signed up to a modelling agency at the grand age of 80 –more than six decades after she first turned heads on the catwalk.

Ms Finlayson first modelled in the 1940s, but gave it up to concentrate on a teaching career.

Last year the widow was tempted back before the lens to take part in a charity event in Aberdeen. It led to Ms Finlayson being pursued by two model scouts, with her signing to a Glasgow agency earlier this year.

Ms Finlayson said: "It's all go at the moment, I've never been busier since appearing on the catwalk last year.

"I actually got offers from two modelling agencies hundreds of miles away in Glasgow. It's great fun and I'm just happy to still do something I enjoy. I'm turning 81 next month so I think I'm doing all right."

The grandmother first modelled as a teenager, but gave it up to take up a teaching post at Albyn School in Aberdeen. More than 60 years later, Ms Finlayson made her catwalk comeback at Aberdeen City Council's 50 Plus Festival in August as she recovered from the death of husband Bruce after 54 years of marriage.

Ms Finlayson then wowed millions of viewers on ITV's This Morning show with Eamonn Holmes the following month.

She said: "I couldn't believe it – they phoned up and just said 'we'd love you to come on the programme, would you like to do it?'

"I didn't think twice about it. So they flew me down to London where I was met with a huge limousine and they said the last person sitting in it was Holly Willoughby."

Ms Finlayson, who is also a big pilates and yoga fan, now clocks up hundreds of miles every week as she travels from her home in Aberdeen to Glasgow so she can model for Colours Modelling Agency, but she reckons it is worth the hassle because she has a free bus pass.
