10 artists whose lyrics we don't understand... and what they could have said

Ozzy Osbourne and Lady Gaga's songs leave fans scratching their heads - the singers have topped a poll of acts whose lyrics people find most difficult to make out, writes Gillian Furmage

Veteran British rock star Ozzy takes first place in the list, followed by eccentric Born This Way singer Lady Gaga.

Bombastic singer Shaggy, Jamaican reggae artist Sean Paul and US rapper Jay Z complete the top five.

To celebrate the kings and queens of mumbling, we've combined the some of the artists' most indecipherable tunes onto a handy playlist.

The top 10, compiled for music streaming service Blinkbox Music, also features US chart-toppers Rihanna and Miley Cyrus, as well as the late singer and guitarist Jimi Hendrix, Purple Rain singer Prince and Bob Dylan.

Researchers questioned 2,000 adults for the poll.

Below is the full list and the correct lyric from each song - plus what we thought they said...

1. Ozzy Osbourne - Paranoid

Did say:  Can you help occupy my brain?

Could have said: Can you help me? I can't find my brain

2. Lady Gaga - Poker Face

Did say: Just like a chick in the casino, take your bank before I pay you out

Could have said: Just like a chicken, the casino'll take your bait before I pay you out

3. Shaggy - It Wasn't Me

Did say:  Never admit to a word when she say

Could have said: Never admit to a hair wash you say

4. Sean Paul - Like Glue

5. Jay-Z - Umbrella ft. Rihanna

Could have said: I want to love me... like I'm a hot pie

7. Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop

Could have said: Dancing with Molly

(this sparked outrage as it was presumed that 'dancing with Molly' was a drug reference).

Could have said: Excuse me while I kiss this guy

9. Prince - When Doves Cry
