PLANS to create a "landmark" £5 million new clubhouse at Donald Trump's Aberdeenshire golf resort have now been recommended for approval.

Trump International Golf Links has applied for planning permission to replace its temporary clubhouse at the championship Menie Links with a permanent structure and Aberdeenshire Council officers have recommended the plans are passed.

Mr Trump has said it would be "disrespectful" not to give the course the building it deserves.

He believes a landmark clubhouse would help lure the Scottish Open or the Open Championship to Aberdeenshire.

The clubhouse sits between the 1st tee and 18th green of the course.
