Hero's welcome

Highlander Damian Macgregor, 25, from Aberdeen, holds his nine-month-old nephew Blake after his regiment returned home in spectacular style.

The Highlanders, 4th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland, were the last Scottish battalion to serve on Operation Herrick in Afghanistan. They spent the last six months in Helmand Province mentoring their colleagues from the Afghan National Security Forces.

Thousands of people lined the routes through Aberdeen city centre to welcome them home.
