COLIN MONTGOMERIE has been awarded an honorary degree from Edinburgh University.
The Ryder Cup-winning captain, 51, received his degree during a ceremony at the historic McEwan Hall in recognition of his contribution to international golf and charitable work.
The Scot won a record eight European Tour Order of Merit titles and 31 European Tour events before leading Europe to the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in 2010. He has since won two majors on the senior tour.
