Cheltenham enthusiast Ian Abbott peers into the middle distance on the opening day of the famous race meeting.

Mr Abbot was among 57,098 fans, including many from Scotland, who flocked to Champion Day. They were treated to sunshine and good to soft conditions.

J P McManus' scored a 1-2 finish, with his horse Jezki, ridden by Barry Geraghty, winning the Stan James Champion Hurdle.
