A HOTEL magnate who had a love of cars left behind £17 million, including several luxury vehicles to his family.

Louis Woodcock, 54, whose sons Antony, 23, and Daniel, 25 are currently taking part in the Peking to Paris rally in his 1927 Bentley, died from the rare tissue cancer myxofibrosarcoma in September.

He was the founder and chairman of BDL Management, which owns and manages 47 hotels in the UK, including Ramada Encore, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza.

The inheritance includes the £2m home which he shared with wife Carol-Anne in Lochwinnoch, Renfrew-shire, a £250,000 property in Kilmacolm and £180,000 flat in Hyndland, Glasgow. He also leaves a house in the Balearic Islands in Spain.

His estate includes a watch collection worth £11,000 and £10,000 of wine and brandy. He has left a Bentley with private registration worth £300,000, a Jaguar E-Type and a Porsche.

Documents lodged at Glasgow Sheriff Court also show he leaves guns worth almost £6000 and a large number of bank accounts and shares.

Antony and Daniel, 25, have so far raised more than £15,000 in the rally, which will be given to Sarcoma UK, a charity which aims to fund research and improve treatment of rare bone and soft tissue cancers.
