PLANS have been lodged to transform part of the former BBC Scotland headquarters into a private residence.

North Park House, in Glasgow's Queen Margaret Drive, is now owned by leisure tycoon Stefan King.

The proposals lodged with Glasgow City Council are to alter the former Broadcasting House and include changing a former studio on the site into a residence. It is believed Mr King may eventually live in the historic building.

His G1 Group bought the site for an unknown price and it is being developed into its headquarters, with 100 staff likely to relocate there.

The proposed upgrade to the former North Park House, designed by Glasgow architect John Thomas Rochead, would involve installing new windows and changing the entrance.

The complex also includes a building designed by architect John Keppie with input from Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Planning agent David Scanlon said: "My client hopes to change the use of part of the building so that it could potentially be a home. Further discussions are required about the rest of the building."

G1 would not comment.
