Cheryl Cole has been asked to fulfil her role as a Scots lady of the manor and open a tiny village arts festival, with bosses even offering to pick her up from Dunfermline train station and provide her with lunch.

The singer was given the lady title after pop mogul Simon Cowell bought her one square foot of Scottish estate, and the accompanying title, for her 30th birthday earlier this year.

Cowell bought Cheryl one square foot of the Bandrum estate near Dunfermline, Fife, from Glaswegian businessman George Kelly, who has been selling tiny parcels of the site in the village of Saline since buying it more than six years ago.

Now councillors of the village have asked the former Girls Aloud star to open its arts extravaganza.
