A pedestrian has died after being hit by a learner driver who lost control.

The 36-year-old man died from his injuries at the scene after being struck on the A93 at Bridge of Gairn, near Ballater, Aberdeenshire, at about 10.30am.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "A grey Skoda Fabia motor car driven by a supervised learner driver lost control and struck a nearby 36-year-old male pedestrian."

The road was closed for around four hours but has since reopened.
