Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses following the death of a man in Dunfermline.

An altercation occurred on Queen Anne Street around 2am earlier today (Sunday 22 March) between the two male occupants of a red-coloured Vauxhall Astra and a male and female pedestrian.

A 26-year-old man attended Queen Margaret Hospital and then Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where he later died.

Officers are now urging anyone who has information that can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

Detective Inspector Stuart Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said: "We'd like to reassure the public that we're pursuing various positive lines of enquiry to ensure the full circumstances around this incident are ascertained."

"A man has sadly lost his life and we're asking for any witnesses who saw this incident to come forward as soon as possible."
