A man and woman have appeared in court in connection with the death of a man found in a car park.

Martin MacMaikain, 28, from Bellshill and Amanda Cook, 21, from Coatbridge appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice in connection with the death of Mark Donnelly, a Celtic fan.

The body of the 27-year-old from Motherwell was discovered in a car park in Hozier Street, Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, on Sunday morning.

He is thought to have spent Saturday in the town centre, wearing his club's strip, and was seen in nearby Bellshill at 5pm.

MacMaikain is also charged with possession of cannabis.

Both of the accused made no plea and no declaration and both were remanded in custody.
