A drunken student was yesterday found guilty of unwittingly staggering into the National Police Convalescent Home and attacking some of the residents.

The court was told that "of all the gin joints" to blunder into, Andrew Roxburgh chose one which was "swarming with police officers".

Sheriff Frank McGowan said: "You were a bit unlucky to wander into a place swarming with police officers, albeit convalescing ones. Nevertheless, your behaviour was reprehensible."

Roxburgh, 34, of Main Street, Bridge of Earn, was found guilty of assaulting three police officers, aiming kicks and punches at them on May 23. He was also found guilty of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and was ordered to carry out 100 hours' unpaid work.
