A man who died after a three-car collision has been named by police.

The incident happened on the A920 Dufftown to Huntly road in Aberdeenshire at around 3.55pm yesterday.

Patrick Pirie, 81, from the Dufftown area, was taken to hospital in Elgin where he later died.

A 22-year-old man who was driving one of the other cars was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries following the collision.

The other driver, a 26-year-old man, suffered minor injuries that were treated at the scene.

Police appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact officers.
