WITH less than two weeks now to go, forecasters still cannot predict whether or not it will be a white Christmas.

The Met Office said that it was too early to tell whether there will be snow across Scotland, saying that it would not be able to accurately forecast it until five days before.

But a spokesman said that weather patterns coming from the Atlantic suggest that it may be a mild festive season, and it was "not likely" that snow would fall.

However he added: "Sometimes there may be brief colder intervals, and if Christmas falls within on of those, then perhaps."

Ladbrokes currently has their odds for a white Christmas set at 3/1 for Dundee, and 4/1 for both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

William Hill has 4/1 for Aberdeen, and 5/1 for Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The last official white Christmas was in 2010.
