The leading Scottish rock band Mogwai are asking fans to donate food for food banks at their forthcoming sold-out shows.

Mogwai, who are celebrating 20 years in the music business, are playing two sold out shows at the Barrowlands venue in Glasgow this coming weekend.

They have announced a food bank donation drive for both dates, on June 20 and 21.

Prior to both shows, the band are collecting non-perishable, in-date food items.

These will then be distributed across food banks throughout Glasgow City - all Trussell Trust branches and The Everlasting Food Bank in Dennistoun.

The band will also donate £1000 to the fund.

The band are asking fans: "If you are planning to attend either show, you can donate your items at the front of the venue.

"This will be clearly sign posted.

"They will also be collecting cash donations, if you are unable to bring food items."

Items that are currently in demand include tinned meat, tinned fish, tinned vegetables, tinned fruit, tea and/or coffee

pasta sauce, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, razors, ladieis sanitary products and toilet rolls.

The new concerts feature other bands.

On the Saturday, Loop, Prolapse, and Pye Corner Audio join the bill, with Sunday featuring The Vaselines, Forest Swords, and Sacred Paws.

The anniversary celebrations for the largely instrumental band continue next week at London's Roundhouse.

Both headline shows begin a season of concerts, curated by the band and featuring some of their favourite artists.

The London shows also feature Public Enemy, GZA, Tortoise, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Bardo Pond.
