Morag moves to Alba

THE children's character Kate Morag is to make her debut in Gaelic early in the New Year.

The successful CBeebies series is to come to Gaelic channel BBC Alba as Ceitidh Morag. The Gaelic version of Katie is provided by Maia Murray Pickering, 10, from the Isle of Lewis. She voices the main character originally played by Cherry Campbell from Glasgow.

The English series of Katie Morag was produced by Cromarty-based Move On Up.

Obh Obh Productions will produce the Gaelic version at its dubbing facility in Stornoway. The series will commence on January 7 at 5pm. Margaret Cameron, channel editor at BBC Alba, said: "Working with colleagues at CBeebies and Move On Up was great fun and they provided us with the fantastic opportunity to bring Ceitidh Mòrag to BBC Alba. I'm sure Ceitidh Mòrag will prove a hit on BBC Alba."
