WHISKY fans are invited to suggest the name for a new single malt.
The whisky itself, matured in manzanilla casks used to store sherry, has also been chosen by the public when three casks of whisky were put to a vote earlier this year.
Producer Glenmorangie now wants people to suggest names to be translated into Gaelic and put to another vote. The distillery said the selecting and naming of the drink is part of a project to get people involved in the whisky-making process.
Glenmorangie means "glen of tranquillity" in Gaelic and the company says it wants to maintain links with the language.
Suggested names for the new single malt will be whittled down to a shortlist of three and translated by Gaelic language lecturer Dr Aonghan Maccionnich. The public can then vote.
Dr Bill Lumsden, director of distilling at Glenmorangie, said: "We're creating history at Glenmorangie by giving fans the chance to decide the name of our next limited-edition single malt whisky. What could be more special for a whisky enthusiast than to savour a dram of their own design, whose very name comes from their own imagination? We now want whisky enthusiasts to be inspired and bring our new cask to life with a name that will resonate. At Glenmorangie, the Gaelic language has already given us some beautiful names to match our beautiful whiskies ."
Suggestions can be submitted online this month with the winner announced in September. It will be on sale in autumn 2014.
