Campaigners against a major housing development in the Cairngorms National Park are appealing a ruling against them.

The Cairngorms Campaign, the Scottish Campaign for National Parks and the Badenoch and Strathspey Conservation Group oppose plans for a new town of 1500 homes at An Camas Mor, near Aviemore, and 117 at Carrbridge, 300 at Kingussie and 40 at Nethy Bridge.

The move came after Lord Glennie, in the Court of Session, rejected all their challenges.

The park authority said it was now 18 months since the challenge was first brought.

The campaigners said: "We have instructed our lawyers to lodge a motion seeking 'urgent disposal' – though 'urgent' in court terms is still likely to be several months into next year."
