A RIVAL fashion show to the annual Dressed to Kilt bash will kick off this year's Scotland Week celebrations in New York city, it has been revealed.

Following a legal row between Sean Connery's Friends of Scotland (FoS) charity and the show's former chairman Dr Geoffrey Scott Carroll, it had been reported the event would not be held in 2012.

But a new show organised by Dr Carroll, From Scotland with Love, will take its place, from April 2.

The line-up, which usually includes models and celebrities with a Scottish connection showing off the latest in Caledonian-inspired fashions, will include Scottish actors Brian Cox and Kevin McKidd, with others still to be confirmed.

The show is being organised by the same team behind Dressed to Kilt. Dr Carroll said: "We are anticipating this year's show will be the best ever.

"We will be taking a fresh and new approach to the subject and, in addition to the good looking lads and lassies and stars that grace our runway, there will be new and bold initiatives which have been our trademark."

Peter Morris, the co-host and Los Angeles-based vice chairman of previous Dressed to Kilt events, said: "The goal of our efforts and our event has always been, and will remain, to promote Scotland as a country, its culture, its talent, creativity and innovation, and the age-old Scottish values of education, exploration and enlightenment.

"We want to refocus our efforts so the next generation of Scots get the opportunity to make contributions to those areas and further Scotland's reputation as the best little country in the world."
