Police confirm remains found near village are missing Russian student Yulia Solodyankina

Human remains discovered at a rural spot have been identified as those of a Russian student who disappeared last June.

Yulia Solodyankina, 22, who was studying physics at Edinburgh University, was reported missing weeks before she was due to graduate.

She was last spotted on CCTV at Glasgow's Buchanan Street bus station on June 7.

Human remains were found near Arrochar in Argyll and Bute last week.

Police Scotland have confirmed that they are those of the missing student.

A spokesman said: "Following further forensic examination and DNA testing, we can confirm the identity as that of Russian student, Yulia Solodyankina, who had been reported missing in June. There are no suspicious circumstances in connection with the death.

"Yulia's family has been informed and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
