Police continue bid to identify body of tattooed man found on Skye shoreline five months ago

Police have yet to identify the body of a tattooed man found on a shoreline almost five months ago.

The man and his rucksack was recovered near Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye on September 9 last year but an appeal has so far failed to trace anyone who knows him.

Officers have ruled out 24 possible names and are now repeating their call for information. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

The man was aged between 45 and 65, 5ft 10, slim and had short dark hair with some grey and a moustache.

He had a tanned face and arms and a number of teeth on his top and bottom jaws were broken or missing.

It is believed he was left handed and had a T and a G symbol tattooed on his left forearm.

The man, said to be a smoker, was wearing a T-shirt, body warmer, hooded top and jeans.

He had on Nike trainers and wore a Sekonda watch with a blue face and a Help for Heroes wristband.

His red Reebok rucksack contained a number of items including a white Real Madrid top and a black Celtic top.

Police have a reported sighting of the man before his death at around 6.45am on Sunday September 9.

A motorist driving on the Broadford to Kyleakin section of the A87 saw a man walking along the verge half a mile away from the Skye Bridge.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
