Prince Harry is take part in a 1,000-mile charity trek, starting from Scotland.
The Afghanistan veteran, who is leaving the army in June, said The Walk of Britain in aid of the forces charity Walking with the Wounded, will begin on August 22.
The prince said: "It is an honour to be stood on this stage as we announce that Walking with the Wounded is coming home to walk amongst the people they have helped and the communities who have supported our armed forces so enthusiastically.
"I'm delighted to say that I will be joining the team for a small part of their journey and I'm hugely looking forward to it."
He leaves the military after four-week secondment to the Australian Defence Force in April and May. The charity aims to support injured personnel into employment.
The young royal has said he considers himself to have been incredibly lucky to have been in the army.
The walk will finish in London on October 31.
