FANS have expressed continuing disquiet about Rangers' finances despite the club winning a bid to appeal against the freezing of half of the £1.2 million it has left in cash.

While Court of Session judge Lord Stewart has granted the club the right to challenge his arrestment order, they remain barred from accessing the cash.

On Friday, former Rangers commercial director Imran Ahmad argued there was a risk of the club going into insolvency as he won a court order freezing £620,000 of the club's working capital. He said the order was needed to ensure he received a payout if he won his legal fight over unpaid bonus money. The judge allowed Rangers leave to appeal his decision after the club said there was enough evidence to show the operating company could remain solvent for the foreseeable future. It is understood Lord Stewart was persuaded by Rangers' claim that ring-fencing the cash may "inconvenience" the plc's bid to raise £3.6m with a fundraising venture.

Chris Graham of the Union of Fans said: "Nothing much seems to have changed. It appears Mr Ahmad can have the funds frozen when he likes."
