KENSINGTON Palace has appointed a new PR boss for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

Jason Knauf, who currently works for state-owned Royal Bank of Scotland, will join the Royal Household in the new year.

Since joining RBS as head of media in 2010, Mr Knauf dealt with the fallout from the bank's near-collapse.

Scandals he handled included former chief executive Stephen Hester's £963,000 bonus payout in shares, dubbed a "£1 million reward for failure", which the bank's boss eventually declined.

The company was fined £28.6 million together with Barclays in January 2011 for anti-competitive behaviour.

And in June 2012 it was hit by a computer meltdown which affected some 6.5 million customers.
