Cycling stunt rider Danny MacAskill showed off some of his tricks yesterday to children in Glasgow.

MacAskill, who became an internet star after his acrobatics on a bicycle were posted on YouTube some years ago, performed for a captivated audience ahead of the Pedal for Scotland Glasgow family ride which takes place on Sunday September 1.

Riders will take part in a four-mile, completely traffic-free loop starting at the Emirates Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, passing through Glasgow Green and then back along the River Clyde. It will provide a warm-up for the main Pedal for Scotland Glasgow to Edinburgh ride on Sunday, September 8.

There will also be cycling and skateboard skills tracks, exhibitions and an air bag for stunts. The event is celebrating its 15th year and organisers said there had been a significant increase in the number of children interested in cycling this year.
