EDDIE Redmayne's Oscars success has delighted his 93-year-old granny who lives in a small terrace house in Edinburgh.

The 33-year-old won the best actor at the Academy Awards as Professor Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.

Standing at her door in a cul de sac in Gracemount, Mary Burke she was "thrilled" with her grandson for clinching the title of best actor.

She also revealed that the Eton educated actor who went to school with Prince Harry still comes to visit her.

"We're just delighted," said Mrs Burke yesterday morning [Monday]. "We're a very close family. We're thrilled."

She continued: "He's one of six grandchildren. I'm very proud of them all.

"We're a very close family. He still pops up from time to time."

Mrs Burke is the mother of Patricia Redmayne, Eddie's mother who studied at the University of Edinburgh before moving to London and marrying Richard Redmayne.

Mrs Redmayne runs a relocation business while his father Richard is a City banker.
