The family of a woman allegedly murdered in her home have spoken of the huge hole left following her sudden death.

Kim Campbell, 41, a mother of four and grandmother of two, was discovered in the early hours of Thursday at her home in New Elgin, Moray.

A 55-year-old man has been charged with her murder following his arrest hours later in the village of Dallas, around 10 miles from the crime scene.

Ms Campbell was originally from the Lossiemouth area but relocated to Elgin around a decade ago with her children.

A statement released by her family last night said: "Kim was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Her sudden loss has left a huge hole in our lives that we will never be able to fill.

"Kim was a genuine, kind and loving woman who loved her family and friends and was well-liked in the local community. She always had a smile on her face and was always willing to help friends and family."

Ms Campbell's family thanked friends and others for their kind thoughts following her death.

The victim's home in High School View in New Elgin, Moray, remained sealed off as forensic officers continue their investigations.

Neighbours described Ms Campbell as very quiet and spoke of their shock at her death.

One said: "She was a very pleasant person. It's terrible. We all feel it."
