Rise in teachers with convictions

The number of cases where a teacher was allowed to remain on the register despite having a criminal conviction has risen 158 from 113 the previous year.

The General Teaching Council for Scotland said there are more than 70,000 registered teachers in Scotland and most of the cases related to road traffic offences.
