A man was taken to hospital after being rescued from the Moray Firth.

A member of the public raised the alarm after the man was spotted in the sea around 1.45pm yesterday. The crew of the RNLI Buckie lifeboat 'William Blannin' pulled the man from the sea around 100 metres off Buckpool beach.

He was taken by ambulance to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin. A spokesman for Aberdeen Coastguard said: "The gentleman was taken from the water by the lifeboat back to dry land where he was met by ambulance and police."
