Scotland landed another high-profile event for 2014 today when it was revealed here in Amsterdam that Glasgow will play host to the 20th MTV Europe Music Awards.
Some of the world's biggest music acts will appear at the SSE Hydro on Sunday, November 9 2014. The show is expected to generate around £10m for Glasgow's economy and will be seen in 700 million households worldwide.
It is the first time that the major awards show has been held in Glasgow, which has already hosted three ceremonies for the Music of Black Origin (Mobo) awards.
2014 will also see the Commonwealth Games coming to the city, and golf's Ryder Cup being staged at Gleneagles.
There is also expected to be a massive global focus on Scotland because of the independence reference.
Today's MTV EMA announcement was made ahead of this year's awards, which will be held in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on Sunday. High profiles names including Miley Cyrus, One Direction, Kings of Leon, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and comedian Will Ferrell will appear tomorrow.

The presenter and acts performing at the awards in Glasgow will be announced in the run-up to next year's event.
Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) and EventScotland have worked with MTV to bring the prestigious awards, which will showcase the world's hottest musical acts, to the city.
Councillor Gordon Matheson, leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of GCMB, said: "It has been our ambition as part of Glasgow's major events strategy to attract the MTV EMA for a number of years and I'm delighted that MTV has accepted the city's invitation.
"Glasgow proved to be the ideal destination for MTV Crashes in 2010, when Diddy Dirty Money and a fantastic crowd showed MTV's global audience that Glasgow is a city that knows how to party.
"Since then, we've been working to bring the world's greatest music event to Glasgow and I'm delighted we can today announce the next chapter in this exciting partnership. Hosting an event of the magnitude and international reach of the MTV EMA reinforces Glasgow's enviable reputation as one of the world's leading music cities."
Fiona Hyslop MSP, Scottish Cabinet Secretary for culture and External Affairs, said: "2014 is going to be an incredible year for Scotland and it is fantastic news that the MTV EMA will be coming to Glasgow.
"As a Signature Event on the Homecoming Scotland 2014 programme, we will welcome the world to the EMA and showcase Glasgow and Scotland to nearly 700 million households through MTV's global network of channels.
"The awards are a highlight on the global music calendar and next year it is fitting that it should be held in Scotland, the perfect stage for events, in Glasgow's newest venue, the spectacular SSE Hydro."
GCMB and EventScotland have been working with MTV to try to bring the awards to the city in 2014 since 2007. The EMA were hosted in Edinburgh in 2003.

Redfoo, the dance-pop artist who is host for the 2013 EMA, said: " I am not sure what we'll be doing in Glasgow but I know that the people there are crazy.
"I'll probably go there a month before the awards to chill out, live with some locals, get into the bars and learn some drinking games. I also want to learn the accent. It's about getting marinated into the culture."
