Rugby union player in assault charge

A SCOTTISH rugby player has appeared in court charged with assaulting another rugby player in Glasgow's west end.

Ryan Wilson, 24, is alleged to have assaulted Ally Maclay, 29, on Great Western Road, Glasgow, on October 27.

Mr Wilson, who plays for Glasgow Warriors, appeared in private yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court on two assault charges.

He made no plea or declaration and was granted bail by Sheriff Ian Miller.

A Crown Office spokeswoman said: "The Procurator Fiscal received a report relating to an incident involving one man aged 20, one aged 25 and another aged 28 alleged to have occurred in Glasgow on 27 October 2013. "The report remains under consideration by the procurator fiscal".
